Red Writing Wolfe Arts Studio is all about life and art and play. What I want to offer you are ways, perspectives, ideas, and tools to enjoy life FOR you, as YOU. I invite you to look at things, maybe for the first time, maybe just from a different perspective and explore what you find. From there, imagine and create … or BUY.
Perspectives
That was what I was going to call a launch of photographs long, long ago. As the years have passed, I have realized how much perspective and our reality, are based on or colored by so many factors: experience, knowledge, exposure, good or bad memories, our beliefs… The motto of Red Writing Wolfe Arts Studio is Explore, Discover, Imagine, and Create… or buy. Why? Well the buy part is obvious, but we encourage you to look at yourself and the world around you with a new perspective or in a different way. Fresh, new, open. Explore things you seem to know well, discover what really resonates with you, and let your mind take off and imagine. If so led, create (that is just who I am, you may have another modality) or buy (also if you don’t want to create).

Writing and Word Play
Years ago, I would have thought that people who love to play with words were nerds or geeks – in a negative way. My understanding would have been tied to the connotations associated with those words as I grew up. Thank goodness, I changed my mind! One, the words geek and nerd are not necessarily negative words any more. Their etymology (look it up) is pretty fascinating. Two, I am old enough that I really don’t care if someone uses either term in a negative manner toward me, BECAUSE it is more about them then me, …And I don’t mind “geeking out” over things that fascinate me (and there are a lot of things that fascinate me). That is who I am.
Did you know that really good rap artists are amazing in their use of words-including multiple meanings in their wording? I have become quite a fan recently. You see when writing, I get excited when I can cleverly use words to make the reader question or think a little bit more about what I am saying, but I am in awe of the word-smithing I have had the pleasure of learning about through the analysis and reaction videos of videos of rappers.
Writing can do and be so much for people. A puzzle and brain stimulation as mentioned above, a source of healing, a tool for understanding and learning…
The Art of It All
My artwork is quite varied! If I see a technique or style or project that I like, I will try it myself. And I encourage anyone interested in art to be bold and confident enough to do the same.
Materials
Bless my neighbor’s heart and her husband’s as well, as she is all in on finding things I will like. She then she gathers and brings them to me. I have so many wonderful finds from nature that she has saved and found for me: pinecones, dried grasses, seeds, and rocks, lots and lots of rocks of all sizes!
Basically, as far as materials go, most anything is fair game! One of my favorite materials is tempered glass that I found in the backyard of the house I used to live in. I don’t have any backstory on why it was there. I would love to know, but I couldn’t dig-up (ha ha ha) any information about it. I just found some pieces of the glass and then found more and more and more. My favorite sources for supplies, beside nature, are art/craft supply stores that take donations of new or used craft items as well as most anything that you can imagine using in some type of art or project. There are two stores in Nashville that do this. In many ways, a trash-and-treasure situation. I LOVE them. I can find such wonderful stuff to create wonderful works of art.

Etsy Store #1:
When you look at Red Writing Wolfe Arts, you will notice a glaring ZERO sales in 2 years. Its history is, well, no sales, but included in that was a period of dormancy. This is obviously not a good impression, as the first thing one sees when they visit a store. So, for the time being, those who want to shop items of what I am calling a more playful nature, should visit that store once they finish buying all of their favorites from this store. Red Writing Wolfe Arts Studio currently focuses on merchandise which refers to scenes or quotes from my book, The Snowman Crossing of Snowy Valley Road, which is an illustrated storybook for adults (though NOT an adult storybook). Since that store had not done well (even though I don’t see why people wouldn’t just fall head over heels in love with the Wolfe from the logo or the cleverness of the Snowmen), I decided that the Vntg hand-picked items and Art would fare much better in a new store.

Etsy Store #2:
I love when a friend or my mom calls me or texts me and asks if I have seen the sunset or the moon. I am so very proud of them when they begin to notice things like that…especially when they notice and are so excited that they want me or someone else to share in the joy! There is so much beauty around us! Appreciation of that beauty is what I want to share, show or encourage through this store.
Vntg and Art by Christy is a companion store to my first Etsy store: It is sort of a more serious store. Through it, I will offer amazing hand-picked vintage items as well as artwork I have created over the years.

Currently, there are a few Pier 1 Imports items from the early 90s. Over the years, I kept checking sources as to the price and rarity of some of these items, and I have not come across many of these items at all! If I have come across any of the blue stemware, it has only been once. Some have come close, but are not the same. So, there are some very rare pieces waiting to be discovered!
The Birdhouses
There are no duplicates and no copies. And if there are some that are similar, they are simply similar. I start with a base of some kind of birdhouse and begin decorating and keep decorating until I am finished. Go to

he Snowman Crossing of Snowy Valley Road
The Snowman Crossing of Snowy Valley Road is the first book that I have written and illustrated. It was released on Amazon in November last year (2025), but it didn’t do what I hoped or expected (or anywhere close) in sales. Thankfully, I had some friends who immediately purchased the book when I told them about it, and I couldn’t be more appreciative that they did it to support me. That truly means the world to me! But, I would really, really love others, those who might know me and those who don’t, to find out about it, read it and love it – reading it and getting it.
Upon the first, and possibly, second readings of my book, my editor told me I had to simplify the story. She said that people wanted stories that are easy to read and understand… people did not want to have to figure out what was happening. I disagreed, but I did clean it up a little: making it a bit more direct and simple. I really didn’t like that – that was not the story that was supposed to be written. So, I went back in and confused things a little and added simple phrases or plays on situations. For those people who want a straightforward story, you may not be pleased with the book at all. It may seem extremely simple and silly. I don’t know. I can’t read it that way. While not exactly happy with my changes to the changes, my editor began to understand that while seemingly simply, the book is actually written in a slow-quick wit that SHOULD make you question what you read, and she began to appreciate the subtle complexity woven throughout. Even after editing at nauseum, my editor was thrilled about the layers that she still uncovered with each reading.
So be assured, the writing and illustrations in The Snowman Crossing of Snowy Valley Road were very intentional. The words and the grammar were carefully chosen and examined in the writing and editing processes. This is not a simple, one-level story. You have to slow down and take your time. Explore and discover it. I used to say that in writing, if you knew the rules, then you could break them. Now, I would say that IF you are going to break the rules, make sure you know: the rules, why they are important, and what breaking the rules does to the writing. In some instances, it can be grammatically correct using a comma before or after a word due to the emphasis that the writer is trying to convey. The placement of that comma can totally change the meaning of a sentence.
So read the book exactly as it was written. If you read something that doesn’t seem quite right, go back and see why it is or is not.
The Snowman Crossing of Snowy Valley Road
The Snowman Crossing of Snowy Valley Road is the first published book for Red Writing Wolfe Arts Studio and Christy Wolfe. For some reason there was great impetus to write and finish this book which is why it exists today. And maybe that is a Duh!, except that it isn’t.
I have lists and notes for books of fiction, children’s stories, non-fiction, journals and prompted books, and collections of stories and poems. The ideas for many of these books came long before I came across the snowmen buttons that had been stored away. Maybe the story developed because I was planning to design a t-shirt, not write a book. I am not sure. What I do know is that my snowmen wanted me to write the story, and that was a prompting I could not refuse.
